State-of-the-art Centrad Camera System gives added protection to wholesaler LWC Drinks

Delivering beers, wines, and spirits into thousands of locations across the UK every year, LWC Drinks has invested in 30 new six-camera Centrad systems for its new vehicles to strengthen its service to customers and to ensure the safety of its 240-strong check team of drivers, vehicles and other road users.

LWC has been built on and continues to rely upon its ever-growing internal distribution network. LWC cover the whole of the UK, with most of its distribution operating 7 days a week, with same-day delivery, in other areas where same-day delivery isn’t possible, they offer next-day delivery. This means their customers get the products they want, in quick time.

The company is also DVS (Direct Vision Standard) compliant in the areas its required, in its quest to ensure maximum safety and the ability to deliver into all regions.

Operating out of a distribution hub in Manchester and a national network of 14 depots, the company carries more than 8,000 product lines, including more than 1,200 draughts, 500 bottled beers, 200 ciders, 200 cider draughts, 2,800 spirits, 1,500 wines, 1,300 soft drinks and 140 RTDs (ready-to-drink beverages) – all carried on a mix of vehicles including Mercedes, DAF & Isuzu 44t, 26t, 16t, 14t, 12t, 7.5t and 3500kg vans

Staffordshire based Centrad has been working with LWC since 2015 and these latest cameras fitted to LWC’s 30 new and replacement vehicles in addition to its existing 200 strong fleet, are designed to ensure safe driving, vehicle safety and security and the safe handling of goods.

Fitted at the front, sides (both nearside and offside), rear, load, and in-cab, and coming complete with a monitor, the Centrad system allows LWC to ensure its drivers adhere to load regulations. Further, it also gives the company an extra pair of eyes in the event of theft or road traffic accident.

Stuart Tinnion, National Operations Manager of LWC Drinks, said: “Safe driving and the safety of our customers’ goods are a key priority for us. Our drivers’ behaviour is monitored monthly using the data from the hard drives in our vehicles. And any reports from members of the public are followed up with investigations – not least in the event of accidents with other vehicles or, for instance, where a single vehicle has been involved with a stationary vehicle, gate or bridge.

“Similarly any evidence of misuse of the tail-lift or incidents where goods may have fallen from the van are also thoroughly investigated.

“Where necessary, the relevant footage is sent to our head office and to our insurers and our drivers are required to complete a driving course to improve their skills.”

He added: “All these measures are there for the safety of our drivers and other road users and to protect our customers’ stock. The new cameras from Centrad will further aid us in our quest to promote all-round safety and to provide the ultimate service for our customers.”

I’m Geoff Cross, Managing Director here at Centrad. You might not know, but I used to be a fleet operator. So, I know the challenges and frustrations you’re facing with theft, vandalism, and of course, insurance claims.

In fact, back when I owned a fleet, we knew all too much about  insurance claims, but that’s a story for another day. That’s what gave  me the idea for Centrad – because I know how much of a pain those  issues are. I wanted to solve that problem.

I understand the issues you face, which is why we help fleet operators  like you increase vehicle safety through CCTV and telematics AND  save thousands of £ every single year.
